Features of IBM Engineering Rhapsody Model Manager

Central design storage

With IBM Engineering Rhapsody Model Manager, you can store and access designs from a central location and use up-to-date content with linked lifecycle data—no data refreshing is needed. You can search, view and analyze designs on the server from IBM Engineering Rhapsody or a web client and do impact analysis and discovery of related design elements and resources using the relationship diagram feature.

Design reviews

IBM Engineering Rhapsody Model Manager automates reviews, specifying the design and stakeholder review team. You can view the design, attach comments and mark up the design through the web or rich client. Improve the quality of your teams’ work by ensuring the extended team has direct input into updates and corrections. You can plan and track projects by linking design reviews to IBM Engineering Workflow Management work items.

Stakeholder collaboration

Teams worldwide can access designs, review them and do trace analysis using web browsers. With IBM Engineering Rhapsody Model Manager, team members can determine how their tasks relate to designs with traceable links to work items, requirements and test cases. Web-based sketching allows for quick team collaboration on design ideas, and impact analysis diagrams identify related design elements and linked resources.

Multi-discipline document generation and reporting

Generate documents using templates, access design information through open interfaces for document generation and create custom templates using IBM Rational Publishing Engine. Use Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) links to understand the impact of design changes on requirements.

IBM renamed the IBM RMM - IBM Rational Model Manager

IBM is renaming IBM Continuous Engineering to IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management and renaming the family of products in this portfolio. IBM recognizes that product development is getting more complex with shrinking product lifecycles, more technical savvy and demanding customers, and growing compliance and regulatory requirements; and IBM wants to make sure our product naming does not compound this complexity. IBM wants customers to be able to easily identify a products’ function by its name.

IBM wants to ensure that our existing customers recognize our focus/investment, and that the marketplace in general and new customers in particular can easily identify which of our products cover major development disciplines – requirements, test, etc

Listing of the major product renaming:

  • IBM Collaboration Lifecycle Management (CLM) renamed to IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM)
  • IBM Rational DOORS renamed to IBM Engineering Requirements DOORS Management DOORS Family
  • IBM Rational DOORS NG renamed to IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next
  • IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) renamed to IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM)
  • IBM Rational Quality Manager (RQM) renamed to IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM)
  • IBM Rational Rhapsody renamed to IBM Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody
  • Rational Rhapsody Model Manager renamed to IBM Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody – Model Manager
  • Rational Method Composer (RMC) renamed to IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization – Method Composer (MEC)
  • IBM Rational Publishing Engine (RPE) renamed to IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization – Publishing (PUB)
  • IBM Rational Engineering Lifecycle Manager (RELM) renamed to IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization – Engineering Insights (ENI)
