Overview
IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) is IBM’s suite for building complex, regulated products. Requirements, models, work items and tests live on one platform and stay linked from the first requirement to the last test.
The suite runs on the IBM Jazz platform. Each product can be bought on its own, and they share users, licences, global configurations and reporting.
Teams use it for ASPICE, ISO 26262, DO‑178C and medical device programmes, where every change has to be traced and every release has a baseline.

Authorized licences suit daily users of one product. Floating licences are shared by occasional users. IBM tokens give one pool that covers all ELM products, so a user can switch between DOORS Next, Test Management and Workflow Management. We size the mix from your user list.
On-premises gives you full control and your own upgrade schedule. IBM SaaS removes servers entirely. Hosting by SmarterProcess is a dedicated environment we run, upgrade and back up for you.
Yes. Rational Team Concert and Rational Quality Manager are earlier names of Workflow Management and Test Management, so they upgrade in place. DOORS 9 projects move to DOORS Next with migration packages or ReqIF. For DXL scripts we have SmarterWidgets 2.0, 30+ ready-made widgets for DOORS Next.
No. Each product works on its own. Most customers start with requirements or test management and add products when the next team is ready. Data and licences carry over.
IBM ELM 7.x adds AI assistance, for example a requirements quality assistant in DOORS Next. Availability depends on the product, deployment and licence; we check it for your setup.
Yes. Through OSLC connectors, Jira issues and GitLab commits and merge requests link to requirements, work items and tests and appear in traceability views.
Add them to the ELM Mini Dashboard and hand repetitive requirements work over to them. Each one previews its changes first.
